Preparing for Student Loan Payment Resumption

Copper Leaf Associate Wealth Advisor Jackie Winkler has published a new article on LinkedIn sharing tips with borrowers who, after over three years of federal student loan forbearance, will resume monthly payments this fall.

Borrowers enjoyed 0% interest on loans throughout the payment pause that began during the pandemic. All loans will resume accruing interest at their set interest rates on September 1st, 2023. However, required monthly payments will not resume until October. Borrowers will receive a bill reflecting their new payment amount and due date at least 21 days before payment is due. This can be expected in the September through early October timeframe and varies by lender.
